There are clear lenses that darken. There
are sunglasses that are polarized. But never before have everyday
eyeglass lenses been able to both darken and polarize in bright, outdoor
light. Transitions Vantage lenses are everyday adaptive lenses with the
added benefits of new Trans-Polarizing™ process-polarization
that increases as the lenses get darker in outdoor light. That means
that as Transitions Vantage lenses get darker, vision becomes crisper,
sharper and more vivid, while glare is reduced even in bright sunlight. VARIABILITY BRINGS THE BENEFITS OF POLARIZATION TO EVERYDAY SITUATIONS Did you know that bright sunlight can cause glare when light scatters off reflective surfaces, which causes discomfort and dull, washed-out images? Polarization filters this light, so you get better clarity. In the past, polarization has been limited to sunglasses, which are popular with drivers and boaters for dealing with the harsh glare off the road or the water. However, glare isn't limited to extreme situations. It's also present in our everyday lives. Now you can get the benefits of polarization in an everyday lens. Transitions Vantage lenses are virtually clear indoors. Outdoors they increase polarization as they darken. This means that you can get crisper, sharper vision in the dappled light of a tree-lined sidewalk or the full glare of a city street. IT TAKES A MASTERY OF MOLECULES Until recently, polarization only existed as static film embedded in a lens. It was tinted and fixed, and thus unable to adapt to changing light and become clear. Transitions Optical has revolutionized the science by creating lenses in which molecules not only darken under the influence of UV light but also align at a proper angle in the lens so that they become polarized. In other words, new Transitions Vantage lenses help control glare and light scatter by both darkening and increasing their polarization in UV light. Conventional photochromic molecules darken in random patterns, and that works perfectly to create the adaptation from light to dark. In order to create the polarization effect, Transitions Vantage lenses have photochromic molecules that darken and align. This allows them to create a pattern of horizontal lines with the power to cut through intense glare |
